Helicopters of Russia Holding has set itself the goal of increasing overall customer satisfaction by offering services at the location of its customers. In the past, helicopters were transported to ASEZ facilities in Russia. Transporting helicopters was not only an expensive and slow exercise, but also had negative environmental consequences.
Given that there are more than 8,000 Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters on the five continents on the market, efforts to move the hangar for their maintenance should have been minimal.
In the early stages of the business initiative, Russian Helicopters ordered a smaller hangar (800 sqm, 17m × 7m gate) for maintenance of the Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters.
After successful implementation, Russian Helicopters acquired a larger hangar (1250 sqm, gate 17m × 7m) for servicing Ka-52 helicopters.
In both hangars, two-axle bridge cranes with a lifting capacity of 2 tons were installed on inflatable frames. There are no supporting columns inside the structure.
The scope of delivery included an energy-efficient lighting solution, gate automation, an autonomous backup power system and a telematics system.
The integration of a biaxial overhead crane is a unique engineering solution that once again proves how rigid the Angarstroy inflatable frame structures are.
About the customer
Our vision was simple. We wanted to provide excellent customer service on all of our helicopters. Visit to customers for the overhaul of Mi-17 helicopters was a big challenge for our daily operation. Without the support of inflatable structures, this vision would not have come true.
